the dream team

Dreamers was recorded by a sensational cast, each of whom seemed fated to play their characters. To learn more about the team behind the scenes, check out their bios on the Broken Crown Productions site.

Bronwyn Rees

Bronwyn Rees is an actor and model based out of Vancouver BC, and she will be voicing the amazing character Lily Bliss in Dreamers. This is Bronwyn’s first role out of film school and she is so excited to be playing a character that she strongly relates to. Her other credits include performing the voice of Reg in an upcoming, all black cast/crew short film ‘Nalb Noum’ written and directed by Xzaviah J. Stone Sr. She hopes that a lot of people connect to Dreamers and can’t wait to see where this project goes in the future!

Aidan Cottreau

Aidan Cottreau is an actor and theatre artist based in Montreal. While studying acting for theatre at Concordia University in 2017, he co-founded A Broke Theatre, a performance group which has created original performances such as ‘The Sandbox’ at the Art Matters Festival 2020, and ‘Bogeyman’ with The Opportunity Theatre Company in 2021. This summer he is performing in The Beinoni; a mystical exploration of modern Jewish identity within capitalism. On top of continuing to record Jonah for the Dreamers podcast, Aidan is excited to be acting in a lead role for his on-screen debut in an independent feature film throughout the fall.

Monica Bušić

Monica Bušić is a Canadian actress of Croatian-Canadian heritage. She recently graduated from her BFA at UBC, and since, has had the pleasure to work in theatre, film, commercial and voice-over. Recent film credits include Shattered (Janna), The Making of Me (Laney)  – post prod., Sunflower (Bex) – post prod. One of her favourite ongoing credits is working as the Youtube channel and commercial host for Square One Insurance. Monica also performs as a dancer, and has her first dance/acro film, “Belladonna”, currently in post-production. Dreamers is her first podcast, and she is excited to be bringing the main antagonist to life. She hopes you all enjoy, and are as surprised by, the Dreamers world as she is.

Ian Backstrom

Ian Backstrom, who plays Christopher in Dreamers, is a Vancouver and Toronto based performer with experience in everything from operatic performance to character improv. Having last worked with Jill (Dreamers writer/director) in a production of Cats in 2015, Ian was excited for the opportunity to read for the role of Christopher, with whom he identifies with at a personal level. During the day, Ian works as a lab manager for a pediatric genetic research lab, and in his free time, he enjoys trail running in the mountains of BC.  Upcoming projects Ian is looking forward to include singing in the chorus for the Canadian Opera Company’s production of Verdi’s Macbeth, and reprising his role as Christopher in Dreamers Season 2!

Owen Francis

A recent graduate from the Full Time Diploma program at On The Mic Training, Owen is a storyteller at heart with a passion for voice over in animation, video games, and audio dramas. He has a background in musical performance and audio production. Owen has recently completed recording the masculine presenting voices for a young adult fantasy novel audiobook duet and has a multi-season recurring role in Dreamers, a sci-fi audio drama podcast set to be released in September of 2022.
